How does a fortune reading work?

A fortune reading takes the chart you were born with and reads how the energy of a given decade, year, month or day meets it — so you can see the shape of the period you're in and the one coming.

Your birth chart does not change, but the time you move through does. A fortune reading puts the two side by side: it reads how this decade, this year, this month and this day meet the eight characters you were born with. Two people with the same chart get different readings for the same week, which is exactly why a period reading helps with choices and timing.

FortuneCat covers each period separately: a plan for one specific day, a month read week by week, the year ahead month by month, a year of money flow, and the ten-year cycles that shape a whole life. Each one names when the energy shifts rather than describing a period as one flat block.

Every reading is written by AI from your calculated chart, in the language you are browsing in, and costs one crystal. The chart itself — the eight characters and the balance of the five energies — is calculated deterministically, so the same birth data always produces the same chart.

Frequently asked questions

Does the daily reading change every day?
Yes. The day's own energy changes, so the summary, the hour-by-hour advice, the strategy and the daily actions are different each day. One reading is kept per chart per day.
What's the difference between the ten-year cycle and the yearly reading?
The ten-year cycle is the long arc — the decade you are living through and roughly what ages it covers. The yearly reading is one calendar year inside that arc. Reading both together tells you whether a hard year sits inside a supportive decade, or the reverse.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Without a time we drop the hour pillar and read the remaining six characters. Knowing the time makes the reading of temperament and timing more specific, but every period reading works without it.
